Heat Treatment:

  • Annealing: Heat to 840-870°C (1545-1595°F), followed by slow furnace cooling to avoid cracking.
  • Hardening: Heat to 1010-1065°C (1850-1950°F), followed by quenching in oil or air to achieve maximum hardness.
  • Tempering: Heat to 150-200°C (300-390°F) for 1-2 hours to relieve internal stresses and improve toughness.
